What To Expect

We offer an English speaking driver who can provide transportation but highly recommend adding a private guide for a more memorable experience. A private guide is available for the whole day or only the two hour tour of Herculaenum. Your driver will be waiting for you at your port of arrival, holding a sign with your name on it.

  1. Herculaneum

Herculaneum, the smaller sister of Pompeii, is a destination for lovers of beauty. Visitors to the ancient city have the rare opportunity to see perfectly intact patrician villas. A miracle of preservation where even the wood and ropes of the 2000-year-old city are on display, along with stunning brick work, mosaics, and frescos. The detail with which Herculaneum has been preserved is remarkable considering the violence of the 500 C° volcanic flows which ravaged the city.

  2. Vesuvius

Explore Vesuvius, the giant volcano dominating the Bay of Naples. Drive up 3000 feet through the old crater and then make the final 25 minute hike up to the top, zigzagging along a path of volcanic gravel. Once at the summit, peer into the 700ft deep and 2000ft wide crater of the Vesuvius--both the destroyer and keeper of Pompeii and Herculaneum—and take in unparalleled views of the Peninsula of Sorrento and the islands Capri, Ischia, and Procida.

  3. Vesuvius Wine Tasting

Having wandered through the culturally rich ruins of Herculaneum all morning, it is time for some well deserved relaxation. Retreat into the vineyard which produces the celebrated vintage Lacryma Christi, literally “Tear of Christ”, and boasts a terrific view of Mount Vesuvius. Enjoy a leisurely lunch and wine tasting and soon you too will gaze at Vesuvio, the sacred mountain of wine, as the ancient inhabitants of Herculaneum once did.
